Caro and Loz met at a party thrown by a mutual friend, who probably had a hunch they’d get on like a house-on-fire…and they weren’t wrong there! One fur baby later, a surprise designer engagement ring and a little ol’ love shack all of their very own and these two are more than ready to tie the knot!
Loz lovingly designed Caro’s engagement ring himself with guidance and advice from the ever talented Ms. Alice of 1791 Diamonds. However, his surprise proposal didn’t quite go to plan when their ski touring trip didn’t go ahead due to poor snow conditions (these two absolutely love being in the mountains!). Not to be deterred, Loz led the charge with surprise proposal Plan B…proposing on the Crown Range summit with 360˚ mountain views and bubbles to follow at the Cardrona Hotel. Perfect surprise engagement proposal Plan B!
With their love of winter and the mountains it was a tough decision to get married in Wanaka in the summer (…no snowy mountaintop wedding photos!). It therefore wasn’t a tough decision to have a winter engagement shoot, it just felt like the most obvious thing to do! It wasn’t the depths of winter when we ventured up onto the Pisa Range near Wanaka but there was snow underfoot and when the sun slid behind the peaks, it was cold!
And cold is what it won’t be this Saturday on Caro and Loz’s wedding day here in Wanaka. Wanaka is always stunning whatever the weather, whatever the season. And even though February is typically hot and dry, anything can happen with the weather when you live in the mountains! Which means any day can be a surprise and I can’t wait to see what Saturday brings!
So here it is, Caro and Loz’s mountaintop engagement shoot in late winter, near Wanaka on the Pisa Range…
Oops! Breaking through the snow crust made walking a little interesting!
With Tui, Caro and Loz’s beloved fur baby…
A cup of something hot never goes astray in the mountains in winter!
Now, where are we exactly on the map?
The sun’s last rays skimming past the mountaintops…
And what we were left with was the most beautiful light and a kiss of pink in the evening sky and on the hills beyond.
